Play Games Online | Price Increases Hit Xbox Live Gold Members In November UPDATE
It’s going to cost Xbox Live members a little more to play games online as Microsoft plans to raise rates for its popular service beginning November 1.
For players in the United States, the cost of an Xbox Live Gold account increases from $7.99 a month to $9.99 a month. For those who pay every three months, the increase is from $19.99 to $24.99. Users who subscribe for the year see their fees change from $49.99 to $59.99.
Xbox Live Gold account holders in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico shall also see an increase in their membership dues.
GamePro will update with comment from Microsoft when it’s available.
Current Xbox Live Gold account holders in the U.S. can renew their subscriptions now for $39.99 under a special promotion that ends October 31.
UPDATE: Larry Hryb, Xbox Live’s “Major Nelson,” confirms that this is the first price increase since the online service’s launch in 2002.
